What is Ear Candling?
Ear Candling, is also known as Thermal-Auricular Therapy. The origins of Ear Candling have been handed down through many civilizations starting with the Ancient Greeks over three thousand years ago. The Egyptians, Chinese, East Indians and Tibetans also used them for cleansing, purifying and healing both on a spiritual and practical level. More recently, the candles were used by Shamen healers of the Hopi Indian tribe, in medicinal ceremonies and initiations to clear negative energies from the head and aura.
The ear candle is lit and positioned gently inside your ear, just enough so a seal is made and it is comfortable. As the candle’s flame warms the air within the candle, it, in turn, warms the air inside the ear (this will be undetectable to you). Any impurities and excess ear wax are gently warmed and drawn up into the candle; similar to a chimney effect. Gentle vibrations act to softly massage the ear, and the rising air helps to regulate pressure. It is a very relaxing and therapeutic feeling. Your treatment ends with a relaxing acupressure massage to the head and face; this is very effective for lymphatic and sinus drainage.
